"Hypoallergenic" is the word everyone uses, so we will use it too, but with a caveat: no dog is completely free of allergens. What people react to is usually dander and saliva, not hair itself. Low-shedding dogs spread less dander around the house, and that is why doodles work well for so many families with mild allergies.
Why doodles shed less
Poodles have a single, curly coat that traps loose hair and dander instead of dropping it. The more Poodle in a doodle, the curlier and lower-shedding the coat tends to be. That is why an F1B (about 75 percent Poodle) is usually a better fit for allergy-sensitive homes than an F1 (50 percent).
Our lowest-shedding options
- F1B and multigen Goldendoodles: curly, very low shedding
- Havapoos: small, soft, low-shedding coats, and at 6 to 10 pounds there is simply less dog to shed
- Mini Bernedoodles: wavy to curly, low shedding, especially in F1B litters
What we recommend
If allergies are a concern, tell us before you reserve. We will point you to the litter whose parents have the curliest coats, and if you are local we are happy to have you visit the farm and spend time with the dogs before you commit. Grooming matters too: regular brushing and a bath every few weeks keeps dander down no matter the generation.
